BiteWise Privacy Policy
Overview
This policy explains what information BiteWise collects, how it's used, and your choices. BiteWise is developed by ChimiDevelopment (“we”, “us”).
Advertising
We show ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers (such as your device's advertising ID) to serve and measure ads. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Camera & AI Processing
This app uses your camera to capture photos for AI-assisted recognition (such as scanning receipts or meals), processed using Google Gemini AI. Captured images are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing and are not stored on our servers after processing completes.
Health Data
With your permission, this app reads and writes health data (such as height, weight, steps, and workouts) through Apple Health or Health Connect. This data stays on your device and within Apple/Google's health platforms except where the app explicitly syncs it, and is never sold or shared with advertisers.
Google Sign-In
You may sign in using your Google account. We receive your name and email address from Google to create and manage your account; we do not receive your Google password.
Shared Food Database & Food Data Sources
This app uses Supabase to manage sign-in and to store the shared food database described below, and looks up food and nutrition information from Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, and Edamam. When you scan a barcode or photograph a meal, the resulting food name and nutrition facts (not your personal information) may be added to this shared community database and made available to other users who search for or scan the same food.
Children's Privacy
BiteWise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by contacting us below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
